Discover one of the UK’s most scenic waterways on our 1 Day Canoe Trip from Ross‑on‑Wye to Symonds Yat. A 14‑mile adventure through the breath taking Wye Valley. An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfect for families, couples, and outdoor enthusiasts, this is one of the best ways to experience canoeing on the River Wye.
Your adventure begins at 9:00am at our riverside base in Symonds Yat West. After a friendly welcome, safety briefing, and equipment handover, we transport you to Ross‑on‑Wye to begin your paddle by 10:00am. The route is split into two stunning sections:
A gentle introduction to the river, ideal for beginners. Enjoy rolling meadows, wildlife, and views of Goodrich Castle rising above the valley. Many paddlers stop at Kerne Bridge for lunch, with options including riverside pubs or the quirky Paddle Café — a converted vintage fire engine serving great food.
This is the most dramatic and picturesque stretch of the River Wye canoe route. Paddle beneath towering cliffs, pass Welsh Bicknor, glide under the historic Stowfield Railway Viaduct, and enjoy the iconic views of Symonds Yat Rock and Coldwell Rocks, home to peregrine falcons. You’ll return to Symonds Yat West around 4:00pm, where our team will meet you at the landing point.
The Wye Valley is one of the UK’s top destinations for wildlife spotting and peaceful outdoor adventure. This canoe trip is perfect for nature lovers. Along the way you may spot:
